It’s like the GD Amityville horror house, right?

I'm cursed with cars, so I know the feeling.

She’s been trying to get y’all to leave. Now she’s not whispering, it’s a scream.

Yeesh, that is a brutal stretch of luck with your house. Even something as straightforward as no A/C in July in Houston… you’re already in some ring of hell with that alone. I know this won’t do anything to improve the situation with your home, I did love reading “plumb” in your post. I worked with a builder for a summer and fall in South Carolina and loved it. I grew up in the South so I heard plumb as a descriptor plenty. Never knew what it meant until I started building things. Not everything is level. 😏

I also remember moments like what you were talking about. Looking at a joist that had zero effing business going in any modern structure and him being like, “what’s wrong with it? Just hammer it into place.” 🥴 We were building storage units for most of that time so I didn’t feel too guilty but that part of the rant wasn’t exaggerated at all from what little I’ve seen.

Sincere best of luck on getting everything sorted, or at least enough where you can sell it. Hard to keep putting money into something you’re going to sell but you might be beyond juju with this one.

Matt, thanks so much for reading and the thoughtful comment. Yes, plumb is a common word in this house as both me and my husband are in construction and he is an actual plumber by trade. It makes this stuff all the more maddening for us.

Without question, that makes it worse, knowing how it should be. Keep dodging that lightning and hang in there with the heat.

FWIW, ferret has moved further down my list of pets I may consider getting one day. Thank you for that intel.

Mandy | Greater Ape's avatar

We are all still holed up in the same room, lol. A technician is on his way to start looking things over.

Ferrets, yes! Rather needy and stinky, too. Unbearably cute, though.

Venting is good for the soul. I’d be absolutely livid if this happened to me, and a run of bad luck would be an understatement. I hope posting this helped! It might be time to leave, and hopefully this next round of repairs is manageable and, most importantly, the last.

Mandy | Greater Ape's avatar

Let us all pray, lol.

Thank you, James.

James Knight's avatar

I can only offer more venting, lol.

Mandy | Greater Ape's avatar

I will gladly take it.

Oh wow Mandy crazy that lightning struck TWICE! Sounds like a new country song!!

Buzz Kantwrite's avatar

Don't worry. Lightning doesn't strike the same place tw... ahem... three times.

Seriously though. Sorry you have to deal with that. That sucks.

Mandy | Greater Ape's avatar

OMG. The fact that the… ahem… THE Great Buzz Kantwrite is acknowledging me is enough to ease the pain.

Thanks, Buzz. I just love your posts and appreciate you very much.

Buzz Kantwrite's avatar

Oh stop it. I haven't taken my anti-blush medication today. These compliments could be the death of me.

Mandy | Greater Ape's avatar

I’ll resuscitate you

I AM GLAD YOU GUYS ARE PHYSICALLY UNHARMED. ALTHOUGH, YOUR HOUSE SOUNDS POSSESSED.

Mandy | Greater Ape's avatar

Thanks, Moe. Me too.

I’m starting to wonder.

Ball lightning is terrifying ... glad it didn't hit your husband!

Mandy | Greater Ape's avatar

I would’ve burned the whole bitch down.

This is crazy!!!!

Talk about Murphy's Law

Sorry that this happened to you. And I don't want to sound insensitive but this is where my brain went: I wonder if you have any fulgurites laying around your house of neighborhood. That would be a pretty cool talking piece for your next house when you can look back and laugh at all this. It would also make a great souvenir for one of your biggest fans. Hint, Hint. :)

Oh, that sounds like an absolute nightmare. I wish you all the luck in the world. This isn't ideal by any stretch of the imagination. I hope you can get shot of it as soon as possible and find a more stable alternative.

Mandy | Greater Ape's avatar

Thank you, Helen. We will prevail!

So many potential comments. Starting with plum-smugglers. Finishing with repair bills being bigger in Texas. None of them would be funny in the moment.

But in the coming weeks, I may ask you about smuggling plums.

At least it's Friday!

LOL, fuckin’ A.
